EARN YOUR BIKE

Our Earn Your Bike summer session is now full. To reserve your spot for our upcoming fall session contact Marvin Macaraig mmacaraig@accessalliance.ca

The Earn Your Bike program at our Lawrence-Orton Bike Hub allows youth to earn and build a bike through volunteerism. Participants build two bikes, one for themselves and another to be used for Bike Hub programming.

Participants learn bike mechanic skills, how to ride safely in the city, and will be supporting the local community through different activities with the completion of 25 volunteer hours at the Bike Hub during the 8-week program.

Bikes built through this program are in used condition and are refurbished using both used and new parts.

The 8-Week program includes the following workshops/activities:

Week 1: Hub orientation and bike selection.

Week 2: Air, wheels, and tires.

Week 3: Wheels, brakes, and tires.

Week 4: Chain, cranks, and shifting.

Week 5: Saddle, pedals, and grips.

Week 6: Regular maintenance, lock, and storage.

Week 7: Toronto Cyclists Handbook review and group ride.

Week 8: Group ride.
