On Saturday September 19th, TCAT launched its newest project, Scarborough Cycles: Building bike culture beyond downtown, at the 2015 Toronto East Bike Festival.
Scarborough Cycles Project Coordinator, Marvin Macaraig, and project partners Kristin Schwartz (CultureLink), Trudy Ledsham and Emma Heffernan (Toronto Cycling Think & Do Tank) engaged with residents and provided information about the project. The team also recruited several volunteers interested in helping with Scarborough Cycles bicycle hubs that will open in 2016.
Billed as Scarborough’s largest cycling event, the main goal of the festival was to celebrate and raise the profile of cycling in the suburbs. The festival attracted over 400 visitors and featured free workshops, kids activities, live music, and a marketplace showcasing local/regional community organizations and active lifestyle businesses.
